Gde Fantom?
Gde Fantom? (Где Фантом?) is a Russian post‑punk band founded in 2018 in Ufa. The group was started by three musicians: Artem Novoselov (vocals and bass guitar), Alexander Novitsky (guitar), and Timur Urazmetov (drums). The band describes its style as “light post‑punk” — a take on the genre that blends melancholic moods with accessible, melodic arrangements. The name “Gde Fantom?” (“Where is the Phantom?”) symbolises the search for something elusive and illusory, setting a poetic tone for the project’s artistic vision.
The band gained early attention with their debut EP Personal Grievances (Личные обиды), released in 2019, which received positive reviews and helped establish their presence on the local music scene. Their sound draws inspiration from 1980s post‑punk acts like Joy Division and The Cure, as well as the Soviet rock band Kino. Since 2021, Gde Fantom? has been actively touring across Russia, performing at festivals and venues. A key milestone came in 2022 with the release of their full‑length album The Illusion of Love (Иллюзия любви), which strengthened their position in the Russian indie scene and showcased their ability to combine introspective lyrics with atmospheric post‑punk soundscapes.
