Danila Kozlovsky
Danila Kozlovsky is a renowned Russian actor, director, and producer, celebrated for his versatile performances in film, television, and theater. Born on May 3, 1985, in Moscow, USSR, Kozlovsky grew up in a family with artistic roots—his mother was an actress and his father a university professor. Although he initially trained at the Kronstadt Naval Military School, his passion for the arts eventually led him to the Saint Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy, where he studied under the acclaimed director Lev Dodin.
Kozlovsky made his theatrical debut in 2006 with the role of Edgar in “King Lear” at the Maly Drama Theatre (Theatre of Europe), a performance that earned him the prestigious Golden Sofit Award. He gained national fame with his roles in films such as “Garpastum” (2005) and “We Are from the Future” (2008), but it was his leading role in the 2013 film “Legend No. 17,” where he portrayed Soviet hockey legend Valeri Kharlamov, that solidified his status as one of Russia’s top actors. He later gained international recognition for his performance in the Hollywood film “Vampire Academy” (2014) and continued his success with roles in major Russian productions like “Soulless” and “Viking.”
In addition to acting, Kozlovsky has expanded his career into directing and producing. In 2021, he directed and starred in the blockbuster “Chernobyl: Abyss,” a film about the heroes of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. Known for his charisma, emotional depth, and dedication to his craft, Danila Kozlovsky remains a significant figure in contemporary Russian cinema and continues to influence both national and international audiences.
