Escape Plan | 逃跑计划
Escape Plan (逃跑计划) is a Chinese rock band formed in Beijing in 2004, which emerged as a defining voice of a generation through their 2012 breakthrough album, World (世界). The band, originally named "Peacock Band" before their rebranding, is anchored by the core lineup of lead vocalist Mao Chuan, guitarist Ma Xiaodong, bassist Wang Xingang, and keyboardist Qu Rui. Their musical style is a distinctive and accessible fusion, often described as "Indie Pop" but seamlessly blending elements of Britpop and rock to create soaring, melody-driven anthems. The World album was a critical and commercial landmark, earning the band prestigious accolades at the Chinese Rock Midi Awards, including Best Annual Rock Band, Best Album, and Best Song for their now-iconic single "The Brightest Star in the Night Sky" (夜空中最亮的星). This track propelled them into the mainstream, leading to major performances at venues like Beijing Workers' Stadium and their participation in the popular TV competition Singer 2019.
