Cem Adrian

Cem Adrian (born Cem Filiz) is a highly prominent Turkish musician, singer-songwriter, and producer known for his extraordinary vocal abilities and genre-defying style. His music is a "hybrid" that blends several influences. He moves fluidly between Alternative Rock, Jazz, Electronic and traditional Turkish Folk.

He was "discovered" in 2004 by the world-renowned Turkish pianist Fazıl Say, who invited him to study at Bilkent University as a "special student" after hearing a demo where Adrian performed all the "instrumental" sounds with his voice.

Since his debut in 2005, he has been incredibly prolific, releasing over a dozen albums, among them Ben Bu Şarkıyı Sana Yazdım (2005), Aşk Bu Gece Şehri Terk Etti (2006), and the Essentials / Seçkiler series, where he reinterprets classic Turkish songs.

Adrian was born in 1980 in Edirne, Turkey and is of Bosniak descent. His stage name "Adrian" is derived from Hadrianopolis, the ancient name of his hometown.
