The 2025 Tehran Dialogue Forum, held from May 18 to 19 at the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) in the Iranian capital, brought together over 200 delegations from 53 countries, including high-ranking officials, ministers, regional decision-makers, and United Nations representatives. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi opened the event, which featured 40 expert panels and was covered by 50 international media outlets. The forum provided a unique platform for informal diplomacy, consensus-building, and the articulation of a new regional order, underscoring Iran’s ambition to be seen as a proactive and responsible actor in both regional and global affairs.
Throughout the two-day gathering, participants engaged in deep discussions on pressing regional issues such as the economic and geopolitical impacts of artificial intelligence, the evolving dynamics of resistance in West Asia, and the prospects for new regional corridors. High-profile interviews and panels included influential voices like Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, who emphasized the importance of dialogue for regional stability and outlined Iraq’s vision for crisis resolution and economic development. Other notable attendees included foreign ministers from Oman, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, as well as policy advisors and security officials from Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Iranian officials and foreign dignitaries alike praised the 2025 Tehran Dialogue Forum as a “powerful display of mutual understanding, attentive listening, and authentic dialogue,” with Foreign Minister Araqchi declaring that Tehran had become “the beating heart of regional concord and a hub of diplomacy shaped by a markedly different atmosphere”. The unprecedented attendance by foreign intellectuals, officials, and private sector representatives reflected the region’s growing acceptance of the forum as a flagship platform for addressing shared challenges. As the event concluded, there was a clear consensus among participants that sustained dialogue remains essential for fostering stability, development, and cooperation across West Asia and beyond.
