Qiang Chen 陈强

Chen Qiang, a contemporary Chinese painter and sculptor, was born in Hainan Province, China. From 1989 to 1993, he studied at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied under renowned artists such as Xu Jianbai and Liang Mingcheng. During this period, he participated in the creation of numerous domestic oil paintings and public art projects on various subjects.

In 2013, Chen Qiang held a solo exhibition titled “问路 | Asking for Directions” in Nanjing, which garnered widespread attention. His famous oil paintings, including “百战星 | Hundred Battle Stars,” “养马会 | Horse Breeding Club,” “南雄会 | Nanxiong Club,” and others, are in the collections of renowned museums. Additionally, “Township Club” is in the collection of the Asia (Hong Kong) Art Foundation. His works have also been showcased at large-scale art exhibitions such as the Guangzhou Art Fair (2014), the Shanghai Art Fair (2016), and the Shenzhen Art Fair (2021).

Chen Qiang’s works are in private collections in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, the United States, Australia, South Korea, Switzerland, Japan, and other locations. In June 2024, he completed a large-scale theme relief for Central South University.

Chen Qiang’s art reflects his profound skills and unique artistic vision. His works combine bold, free, and powerful brushstrokes with smooth and delicate colors, creating a strong inner tension. He separates the spiritual essence of the subject from its material form and explores a variety of media to seek harmony in contradictions and confrontations. This approach stimulates the viewer’s deep contemplation about the meaning of life and artistic expression.
