The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, arrived in China on July 9 for a four-day official visit during which she will hold talks with the top leadership of the People’s Republic. The two countries are expected to sign a large number of agreements and memoranda.
This visit comes shortly after Prime Minister Hasina’s most recent visit to India, between June 21 and 22.
Memoranda of Understanding will be signed on cooperation in the economic and banking sector, trade and investment, digital economy, infrastructure development, disaster management assistance, construction of Bangladesh-China friendship bridges, export of agricultural products from Bangladesh and human communication.

This is Sheikh Hasina’s fourth visit to China, and the trip will elevate relations between Bangladesh and the People’s Republic of China from a “strategic partnership” to a “comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation.” The two countries became strategic partners in 2016 following President Xi’s visit to Dhaka.
On July 9, she began her series of meetings by discussing with Wang Huning in Beijing. Wang Huning is a political advisor and professor of political science and international relations and head of the Political Consultative Conference | 中国人民政治协商会议全国委员会主席 since March 10, 2023.
(…) Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China and Bangladesh respected and treated each other equally, being a good example of friendly coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation between countries. China is ready to deepen practical cooperation with Bangladesh in various fields and promote the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries to a new level.

On July 10, a delegation-level meeting was held with Li Qiang, Premier of China, in the Great Hall of the People. After this visit, a discussion with President Xi Jinping was scheduled.
