The Kuwaiti government was briefed on Tuesday, May 28, by the Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, Noura Al-Mashaan, about the rail link project between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
Mashaan presented the project during the weekly cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at Bayan Palace, Kuwait’s official news agency KUNA said. This infrastructure project will enhance trade and economic growth between the two countries.
Kuwaiti media quoted a government source as saying that Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Saleh al-Jasser, will visit Kuwait this week to discuss the rail link project, its implementation stages and other details.
The 650 km long Saudi Arabia-Kuwait railway network will cut travel time between the two countries to three hours. This route is separate from that proposed by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The railway route will start from Al Shaddadiya in Kuwait and go to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The completion time is 4 years.
The current government of Kuwait is the 46th and took office on May 15, 2024.
