Swiss parliament votes against recognition of Palestine

Deputies of the National Council (one of the two chambers of the Federal Assembly) of Switzerland did not support the proposal to recognize the State of Palestine. 61 votes were cast for the recognition while 131 against, the press service of the parliament reported.

The National Council does not want to recognize Palestine. The council rejected on Tuesday (June 4) the corresponding initiative introduced by the deputy from the Social Democratic Party (SPS) from Zurich, Fabian Molina

Furthermore, the federal government, the National Council and the Council of States spoke out on Tuesday in favour of a National Action Plan to ”do more against anti-Semitism and racism”.
