
Tehran expressed its desire to obtain observer status in the EurAsian Economic Union. Alexei Overchuk said that in order to obtain the status it is necessary to go through certain procedures.
According to the head of the EAEU board, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, the association received on May 27 a corresponding note from the Islamic Republic. Sagintayev added that the request will be considered in accordance with the established procedure.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk previously spoke about the procedures for obtaining observer status. He noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran, if implemented, will become an observer at the end of the year.
