Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu said at a meeting with Chen Wenqing, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of China’s Communist Party and the secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, that Russia is set to deepen cooperation with China in law enforcement and security.
The meeting was held on Wednesday (November 13) morning, on the sidelines of the 9th round of Russian-Chinese consultations on public security, justice and law enforcement which was organized in Beijing.
The security and law enforcement agencies of our countries maintain highly intensive cooperation. And we are committed to deepening cooperation in the law enforcement and security spheres. Our bilateral relations have been a key element of global politics and security and the main stabilizing factor in international affairs.
Sergey Shoigu
Russia is seeking to consolidate efforts toward fighting extremism, terrorism and transnational crime both bilaterally and multilaterally, he specified.
The previous day, on November 12, Shoigu and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also held talks. The Russian representative said that the most important task by Beijing and Moscow is to counter “the policy of ‘dual containment’ of Russia and China pursued by the United States and its satellites.”
Wang Yi said that Beijing and Moscow needed to stand together in the face of the world’s complex situation.
The more complex the international situation becomes and the more external challenges arise, the more the two sides need to stand firm in solidarity and coordination to safeguard common interests.
