President of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) | 조선민주주의인민공화국, Kim Jong-un, held an official welcoming ceremony for Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kim Il-sung Square in the country’s capital, Pyongyang | 평양.
Talks between Russia and the DPRK began in an extended format and later continued as a one-on-one meeting. Following the talks, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un signed a Treaty on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. Comprehensive means without restrictions. Putin explained that the agreement provides for “mutual assistance in case of aggression | оказание взаимной помощи в случае агрессии против одного из участников договора”.
During President Putin’s visit to the DPRK, the sides also signed intergovernmental agreements on the construction of a cross-border road bridge over the Tumen River and cooperation in the fields of healthcare, medical education and science.
