At the meeting in Riyadh, held on Tuesday November 19, the representatives of Saudi Arabia, Iran and China, who are members of the joint committee, reaffirmed their commitment to the agreements reached under the mediation of China and to further strengthen relations.
The sides discussed the implementation of the agreement on normalization of relations signed in March 2023, was chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Walid Al-Kereiji. It was attended by delegations led by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takhtah Ravanchi and Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Deng Li.
In a statement issued after the meeting, Saudi Arabia and Iran expressed their gratitude to China for its continued support and the importance of its participation in the implementation of the Beijing Agreement. China reiterated its willingness to continue supporting and encouraging the efforts of Saudi Arabia and Iran to develop bilateral relations in various fields.
They welcomed the first meeting of the Saudi-Iranian Joint Media Committee and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies and the Institute of Political and International Studies of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Saudi Arabia and Iran also expressed their readiness to sign a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA). Along with China, they said they looked forward to expanding cooperation among them in various fields, including the economy and diplomacy.
The three countries called for an immediate end to the Israeli campaign of death and destruction in Palestine and Lebanon. They condemned Israeli attacks and violations of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
They also called for an uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid and relief to Palestine and Lebanon, warning that the continuing cycle of violence and escalation is a serious threat to the security of the region and the world.
The three countries reiterated their support for a comprehensive political solution in Yemen in line with internationally recognized principles under the auspices of the United Nations.
