Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, announced that they will not allow Israel to use their airspace for any aggression against Iran and have informed the US of this decision, Reuters reported Thursday, 10 October.
Citing three sources, the report said the three countries are concerned that Iran or resistance groups in the region could target their oil production facilities in retaliation for a potential Israeli strike. The report comes as the Israeli regime has threatened to attack Iran while Tehran has warned that any assault will provoke an even stronger response.
Ali Shihabi, a Saudi analyst close to the Saudi royal court, told Reuters that the Iranians have stated that: ‘If the Persian Gulf states open up their airspace to Israel, that would be an act of war.
Iran’s Parliament speaker said during an interview for the al-Mayadeen Lebanese tv station (12 October) that the Islamic Republic will retaliate against the countries that allow their territories to be used for potential attacks against the Islamic Republic.
We have said time and again that the airspace and soils of the neighboring countries should not be used for attacks against our country.
Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf
He said Iran was certain that its neighbors in the West Asia region take this matter into consideration in the same way that they have been committed to refusing their territories to be used against the Islamic Republic in the past, while asserting, “We enjoy peaceful relations with all the countries of the region.”
However, should a third country’s territory be used towards perpetration of aggression against the Islamic Republic, “our response will be clear and natural. Because we will retaliate against any location, from which an attack against Iran is launched,” he added.
