Russian actor Mikhail Boyarsky, who starred in the film “D’Artagnan and the Three Musketeers”, has admitted that he is considering retirement. In an interview with Lera Kudryavtseva, the 74-year-old actor said he would not rush back onto the stage because he would not want to continue on the “merit of the past”. He also stated that he no longer wants to perform in theaters and films because of his advanced age and urged “not to anger the Lord”.
In November, Boyarsky was admitted to the Mariinsky Hospital in Saint Petersburg with a heart attack. His son, Sergei Boyarsky, a deputy in the State Duma, confirmed that he suffered a heart attack and recovered quickly. His wife, Larisa Luppian, stated that he would be discharged in early December. In February, REN TV reported that the actor underwent heart surgery.
In 2014, Boyarsky expressed hope that the people of Russia and Ukraine could live in harmony, united by their culture. He said that we should think not of ourselves, but of our children and grandchildren, who will unite us.
In 2015, he was placed on the blacklist of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, and in 2022, he was added to the sanctions list after supporting Russia’s decision to recognize the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
